Premier League 2021/22 – Matchday 6
Premier League 2021/22 – Matchday 6 kicks off at 12:30 on Saturday September 25th. Chelsea V Manchester City and Arsenal V Tottenham headline the weekend’s fixtures.
Manchester United take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford at lunchtime on Saturday too, while unbeaten Liverpool head south to face an impressive Brentford side. Premier League 2021/22 – Matchday 6 is wrapped up on Monday Night Football with the latest instalment in the rivalry between Crystal Palace and Brighton.
Chelsea V Manchester City
Chelsea and Manchester City are the two favourites for the Premier League title. Thomas Tuchel’s Blues are yet to concede from open play this season. Manchester City’s start to the campaign has been less impressive, but they are just three points off the summit.
Not only an early battle in the title race, this is another duel between two of the game’s greatest managers. Chelsea have beaten Manchester City three times since Tuchel took over, including a tactical masterclass from the German in the Champions League final.
City were held to a goalless draw by Southampton last time out. Not signing a striker was a risk. There have already been signs that Pep Guardiola’s team are missing that cutting edge in the final third.
Bookies are split on this one. Their odds to win are very similar. With Chelsea’s home advantage, though, and their recent good record against City, the Blues are a great price to take all three points on Saturday lunchtime.
Leeds V West Ham
This is one of the most intriguing fixtures in Premier League 2021/22 – Matchday 6. Leeds are winless. West Ham have started the season well and were a Mark Noble penalty away from a draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
David Moyes’ side ranks fourth in expected goal difference per 90. Leeds are third-worst in expected goals against. Marcelo Bielsa’s football has been entertaining as ever, but there will be pressure on them to get a result on Saturday. Failing to win at lowly Newcastle was a major disappointment.
The Hammers did the double over Leeds last season. The return of Michail Antonio gives added impetus to a frontline which troubled Manchester United last weekend. Moyes has got the balance of his team spot on.
Leeds V West Ham is sneakily a big game early in this season. West Ham want to get back on track, while Leeds are desperate to avoid a six-match winless run.

Arsenal V Tottenham
Results flattered Tottenham early in the season. Statistically, they rank poorly at both ends of the pitch. Despite an impressive first half an hour against Chelsea on Sunday, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have now lost 3-0 in back-to-back matches.
Arsenal’s season has been the reverse so far. They lost their first three, but have recovered with consecutive wins. Only beating Norwich and Burnley by a single goal has hardly taken the pressure of Mikel Arteta, however.
Spurs’ five-match unbeaten run against Arsenal came to an end in March. The result of this match will shape the narrative around both clubs after troubled starts to the season. A win on Sunday would be a huge boost for Arteta or Santo.
Harry Kane’s exceptional derby record will interest plenty of bettors. It might be worth sitting on the fence here, though. A lack of confidence in both dressing rooms could mean a stalemate.
The days of north London goal fests have been left behind. Under 3.5 has hit in nine of the last 11 matchups.

Premier League Table 2021/22
Chelsea and Liverpool are tied atop the Premier League table 2021/22. With exactly the same results thus far, the Blues are on top by virtue of having scored an away goal when the teams met at Anfield.
Manchester United also sit on 13 points. At the other end of the top flight, Norwich are the only team yet to score a point. Five teams are winless after five matches.
